Significance of Magh Purnima 2014 -

According to Brahma Vaivarta Purana, Lord Vishnu resides in the water on Ganges on this day. Hence, it is believed that even touching the holy water of Ganges on this day provides salvation. Magh Purnima provides a person with success, peace of mind and salvation. It  is one of the most also beneficial day for holistic bath in river Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. Makes you free from all kinds of sins and problem. It also provides peace of mind and purity. Charity on Magha purnima gives a remarkable significance and also gives the fruitful bliss. 

You should observe fast. Wake up early and take bath in a nearby river before sunrise. If taking bath in a river is not possible add some amount of Gangajal in water while bath and chant maa Ganga name. Worship Lord Vishnu, hanumanji and Lord Satyanarayan. Donate food, clothes, jaggery, ghee, laddoo, fruits, cereals etc.. Taking part in Puja, charities and yagyas organized on this day are considered to be very important. Donating sesame seeds is considered to be very important during this month. At many places and temples Lord Satyanarayana’s katha is organized. You should try to listen this katha or take part in organising it. Ancestor rituals i.e offering tarpan is also performed on this day. In evening offer ardhy to Moon. -
