Astrology’s Reputation is Less Than Stellar and 

There’s Good Reason for That.

Many people actually think that astrology is the Sun-sign columns found in almost every newspaper and on-line news media sites. Nothing could be further from the truth. That’s not astrology, that’s entertainment, which is what is often stated in the fine print beneath astrology columns. Unfortunately, sun-sign columns are one of the most persistently misleading representations of astrology. An amazing fact, however, is that nearly all people know what their Sun-sign is, and more than 31% of the public give some credence to astrology according to a 2008 Harris poll. In 2001, the National Science Foundation concluded that 41 percent of those surveyed believed that astrology is at least somewhat scientific.

So, if astrology isn't Sun-sign columns, then what is it?

Astrology’s Ancient Roots


Astrology is inextricably interwoven throughout our social and cultural history. In fact, it’s part of the soul of culture – every museum, every city, in either its buildings or monuments has some Zodiacal representation. Museums the world over hold evidence in artifacts of the value society has placed on astrological symbolism since the earliest times of human history. Some remarkable physical remnants also remain, the most notable being Stonehenge in England, said to have been constructed in phases between 3,000 to 2,000 BCE. It may have had several functions, as a healing and sacred burial site, and also as a huge clock or celestial observatory to measure the Sun’s movement and interaction with the Earth, enabling its designers to precisely predict eclipses, solstices, equinoxes and other major celestial events.

Astrology initially developed as a symbolic language for understanding and managing various natural phenomena for agricultural purposes, and to elicit meaning from the contradictions of life. Observing celestial cycles, (most obviously the Moon travelling through its phases monthly) established early on the recognition that there is an inexorable link between the environment around us (including the space above us) and the patterns of our daily lives.

Real astrology is a much more complex process than the simplicity of sun-sign columns. Natal astrology, for example, involves a map of the sky at the time, place, and date of one’s birth. It includes analysis of a minimum of 10 celestial bodies and several other mathematical points derived from the calculations of one’s birth data. The logic behind this is that we are all influenced by the environments into which we are born, both physical and social.

Astrological Symbols Explained


Dane Rudhyar, one of the most respected astrologers of the twentieth century, now deceased, brilliantly explained astrological principles in this article from Horoscope magazine 1971:

“More simply stated: the astrologer observes the interrelated motions of the closest factors in the cosmic environment of a particular locality on the earth’s surface – i.e., the ten astrological planets – and having identified these planets with the most basic functions and drives in the total organism of a particular human being, he deduces from the interrelationships of the planets at a particular time what the interrelationships between the constituent parts of this human being will be…
“In other words, ten variables are considered sufficient to interpret and to attribute meaning to all past and present events and personal crises and to enable the astrologer to predict future developments. Moreover, the relatively simple formula which a birth-chart constitutes is said by the astrologer to define the very character of the “native” – even though human character is quite a complex affair! Obviously, it can only do so if the ten variables represent the basic qualities of existence which may manifest at any and all levels of human personality.

“We, therefore, are leaving altogether the scientific realm of quantitative measurements and in astrology we are operating in terms of the organic interplay between universal qualities or life rhythms. Each of these ten qualities – modified by their positions within frames of reference like zodiacal signs and natal houses – must, therefore, cover a multitude of cases.

“Astrology deals with individual persons; it is meant to help these persons to live a more harmonious and significant, a richer and fuller life. In pursuit of such a goal, quantitative factors are of little value, for what is at stake is the quality of each of the persons’ ten basic bio-psychic organic functions – the Sun function, the Moon function, the Mercury function, the Venus function, the Mars function, etc.
“The specific genius of astrology resides in the astrologer’s ability to relate every trait of character, every mode of behaviour  every form of intelligence, every vital feeling-response to merely ten variables. The more complex human existence becomes, the more each of those variables has to be loaded with possible meaning – a process which seems to be in direct opposition to the ever more refined type of analysis developed by modern scientists so specialized that indeed they come to know more and more about less and less.”

Rudhyar clearly expresses what all astrologers know so well, that there are as many ways of measuring as there are of understanding phenomenon. The scientific, mechanistic way is not the only one, even though it professes to be and appears to have a firm grasp on modern society – I sense this loosening, as the times we are in demand that we take a deeper look at our place in the universe and what we have been led to believe.

It is the distinction and definition of measuring which caused astrology to lose its place of previous honour during the so called Age of Enlightenment, the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, when the concept of a relationship to the divine or a holistic world view was seen by scientists as associated with religion and therefore rejected by the rise of scientific measurements. The words, astrologer and astronomer were one and the same until the advent of mechanistic science in the seventeenth century. After all, it was Galileo, an astrologer, who rocked the world with his theory, proven true, that the Sun was the centre of the solar system and not the Earth. He was imprisoned for that discovery and made by the Catholic Church to recant it.

Astrology is a symbolic language and a testament to our humanity as it seeks not to divide but to harmonize and holistically understand the entire system we live within (earth and cosmos) and not only select parts.

World View Challenged


Bernadette Brady explains it well:

“You know how they [science] once thought that the planets’ orbits were circular – they had to be, because of the eight spheres. It was a whole world-view, which was a world-view of God as well; theological astronomy, really. If they weren’t perfect circles then they couldn’t have the eight spheres and the whole theology broke down; so there was tremendous resistance to changing the concept of the perfectly circular orbit…So the whole thing disintegrated with Kepler – and the whole theology had to go, the whole world-view had to change to incorporate the ellipse.

“That’s where we are at with orthodox science now – there are many band-aids stuck on in order to make things fit. I think what is going to happen – fifty or a hundred years from now, I don’t know the timing – is that the whole lot is going to collapse, and the major philosophy is going to be based on fractals and Mandelbrot theory – and the interconnectedness of everything, and the cyclic nature of everything – and how things are reproducing at many levels without scale, time or size.

“I think that then science as we know it will change and we’ll get a world-view based more on fractals; and when that happens, I believe astrology is going to be totally at ease. The big problem astrology has had is that it’s the only ‘science’ (in inverted commas) that couldn't go over to reductionism. You couldn't do it, because if you went over to orthodox science – well, astrology is destroyed if we break it into little parts. The very central standing stone of astrology is the interconnectedness of things, so it cannot be reduced to parts, you may be able to play around with positive coding for football matches but not a person.

“Astrology therefore could not go over and jump on the new bandwagon or reductionism, so when a philosophy can’t comply with the orthodox view it tends to be labelled as evil – but I think that’s going to shift, but maybe not in our life time.
“I therefore don’t think that astrologers have to go to science and prove themselves. I think astrologers just have to stand where they are, because I think science is coming to us.”

Paraphrasing Sir Isaac Newton – it’s important to research a topic, or at least delve beneath the surface veneer, before discounting its value or voicing an opinion. As it turns out, astrology is a rich symbolic language with a history that spans all of human existence from the very first time that mankind looked upward at the sky and observed changing celestial phenomena. It has much to offer to the discerning (and open) mind. Astrology is not a science but all its data is based on the sciences of astronomy and mathematics, the calculations of which are used for the interpretation of charts. The best way to determine the personal value of astrology is to experience a professional astrological consultation and then make your own informed evaluation.

So you want to learn how to read minds...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My name is Marc Paul and I’m a mind-reader. Which means I know what you are thinking, you’re thinking is it possible for someone to REALLY read minds. Firstly let me give you some background. 
I'm NOT psychic; at least I don’t think I am. A child of 7 could do what I do with 20 years of practice!

Can I tell you what you are thinking right now?...no. BUT if I get you to isolate a single thought and then get you to think about that thought in a few different ways then YES I can tell you what it is.
I understand people and I know how they will react in certain situations that are controlled by me. This means I can “predict” how people will behave in those situations. They think they are making free choices but really they are following pre-determined actions that are ingrained in all of us. Derren Brown, the UK ’s prominent TV mind-reader and psychological magician once said “People’s belief that they are not predicable is actually one of their more predictable traits!”

In order to learn how to read minds you need to be a good 
observer. You see, every thought we have manifests itself in 
a physical reaction. If you can observe the reaction you can 
interpret the thought. 

This is REAL mind-reading and not some sort of magic trick.

When I was a child I got interested in magic and card tricks. I wanted to become a magician when I grew up. At the age of 12 I discovered that there is a branch of traditional conjuring that is called Mentalism. Practitioners of the art of mentalism are called mentalists. This area is far more interesting than JUST normal magic tricks as it teaches genuine techniques that enable you to develop mental skills that most people don't have or even know about. I like to call it "sleight of mind" rather than sleight of hand. 
The first thing that I learnt was memory improvement techniques called “mnemonics” that enabled me to memorise a shuffled pack of cards in just a few minutes after going through it only ONCE. As a teenager I realised that these memory skills had real world applications....like memorising loads of information for exams! My teachers had not seen the particular systems that I had taught myself and seemed really impressed by what I could do.

Mentalism also teaches rapid calculation skills that, again, most people don't know. So I was able to go from being very average at maths to appearing to be a genius! Here's a quick example... someone would say what's 11 x 24...I would instantly blurt out 264 and beat my friends on their calculators. I knew from my studies that there is a very, very easy way to multiple by 11. You simply add the two digits, 2+4 in this case and put the result in the middle, 264. 11 x 13 would be 143 etc. This new found knowledge was fascinating to me and it has turned into a life time of study. What's  interesting is that there is a scientist in the US who is studying what he calls "micro-expressions" on the human face, he has been getting a lot of press coverage as the technique can be taught to the police etc. so that they can tell when someone is lying...mentalists have been doing this for the last 50 years!
So if you want to learn how to read minds you should study the art of mentalism.

With the world wide popularity of the USA television series “The Mentalist” it is hardly surprising that this rather unusual profession is now becoming known to the public. But in reality there are only a handful of true mentalists in the world. Yes there are a lot of magicians out there who do a few mind-reading tricks in their magic shows but only a few true mentalists. Derren Brown has popularised what we do and as a result made it more understandable to the public. Before this enlightened time the mind-reader was normally some sort of carnival mystic from the 1930's with a cloak and a turban. The modern mind reader is much more "normal" and is willing to let the audience in on SOME of his secrets BUT not all. I tend to play mind games with my audience rather than impress them with my ability, although that is still part of it! My show is about exploring what the mind has the potential to do and what you can learn about yourself as a human being.

I’m married with two children, I can tell when my boy is lying (but what parent can't) he doesn't really understand what it is that I do. My wife probably understands what I do as well as me which neutralizes any influence I might have over her in fact she can read my mind better than I can read hers!

So you now know about me. Let’s talk about YOU…

So you want to learn how to read minds or a least have an interest in mind-reading, mentalism or magic. Other wise you would not have found this article, that’s just logic, but it also tells me some things about you at least in general terms. So even though you may be hundreds or even thousands of miles away from me right now let me get inside your head. Are you ready? Remember having your mind read can be both a thrilling and disconcerting experience in equal parts!

You are very passionate and enthusiastic about life. You know what you want and have an active mind. At times you are very imaginative and inventive. You like to be challenged by things. You are very stubborn, but you can use that to your advantage. You are very capable and generally optimistic, but can be impatient or headstrong sometimes. You are occasionally daring or impulsive. It is very hard for you to show and express your feelings with words and actions. Some of your aspirations can tend to be pretty unrealistic. At times, you are extroverted, affable, sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary and reserved. You have found it unwise to be too frank in revealing yourself to others. You pride yourself on being an independent thinker and do not accept others’ opinions without satisfactory proof. You prefer a certain amount of change and variety, and become dissatisfied when hemmed in by restrictions and limitations. At times you have serious doubts as to whether you have made the right decision or done the right thing. Disciplined and controlled on the outside, you tend to be worrisome and insecure on the inside. While you have some personality weaknesses, you are generally able to compensate for them. You have a great deal of unused capacity which you have not turned to your advantage. You have a tendency to be critical of yourself. You have a strong need for other people to like you and for them to admire you.


So how did I do? Okay I might not have got everything perfectly correct but I bet I did pretty well. Believe me I would have been spot on had you actually been in front of me! I could have even told you personal information that only you know!

The subtleties of mentalism teach you to know people, how they think and how they behave. If you really want to learn how to read minds then you must study mentalism. So right now the burning question in your mind is “How do I start?”
The classic advice to any beginning mentalist is to read "The 13 Steps to Mentalism" by Tony Corinda and "Practical Mental Effects" by Annemann also sometimes called "Practical Mental Magic". These books will give you a good foundation in a whole array of skills. But remember this is just a starting place to really learn how to read minds is going to take a life time of study, enjoy the journey.
I know, I know you want to learn NOW. Well you can’t. Anything worth attaining is going to take time and thought. The sooner you accept that the better you’re experience will be!

BUT if you just want a simple mind-reading magic trick that LOOKS like you can read minds then try this…


Calendar Mind Reading

This is an example of what I would call “mental magic” it is the type of trick a magician will use when he wants it to appear that he is reading your mind.
You’ll need a piece of paper and a pencil and if you have one handy a calculator.
Draw a 5 x 5 grid and write the numbers 1 to 25 in the grid in order, like this…

Now I want you to write the days Monday to Friday along the top in any order you like. Remember any order you like.
When you have done that I want you to write them again in any order down the side. It can be the same order or a different order it’s up to you. For example you might have a grid that looks like this…

If your grid looks exactly like mine then I must have read your mind!!! But more than likely its not, but that’s good it proves that you can think differently from me.  
Now on your grid draw a circle around the number where the same two days meet. That is where Monday meets with Monday, Tuesday with Tuesday etc. You will circle five different numbers. In my example I would circle the numbers in my grid at the following locations. Yours will of course be different.

Secretly add those five numbers together, don’t show me! Now you will have a number in your mind, a number made up from random actions. If you had put the days in a different order you would have ended up with a different set of numbers. Think intently of the total of your five numbers….I’m getting it…..I almost have it….yes I know the number you are thinking of. It’s 65 !

Now you know I didn’t really read your mind don’t you? I’m not going to tell you the secret to this clever magic trick.  Just try it on a friend and have faith, I’m sure it will work.

WHY WORRY ??



जीवन एक नाव की तरह है, और आत्म-विश्वास और आत्म-बल दो  पत्वारो की तरह होती है ! जब हम समस्याओं से घिर जाते है, हम अपनी इन दो मज़बूत पत्वारो से समस्याओं - रुपी जल्धारा को पीछे की  ओर धकेल सकते है और इस तरह हमारी जीवन-रुपी नाव आगे बढ़ा सकते है !

समस्याएँ हर व्यक्ति के जीवन में आती है, और यह हमारे ऊपर निर्भर है कि हमे आने वाली कैसी भी समस्या से कैसे निपटना चाहिये ! जब कोई व्यक्ति किसी बड़ी कठिनाई से जुझता है तो मन व तन दोनों असंतुलित होने लगते है, अवसाद कि स्थिति आने लगती है और यदि सही समय पर संभले नही तो फिर जीवन जीने की इच्छा खत्म होने लगती है, और  ग़लत विचार बार बार आते है जो बहुत हानिकारक है !


मै नीचे कुछ उपाय बता रहा हूँ, और यदि इन उपायों पर अमल किया जाए तो निश्चित ही लाभ होगा !    

(1) - धीरज रखे, घबराये नही, और अपने विचारों को संतुलित  रखे ! नकारात्मक विचार जल्दी-जल्दी आयेंगे उनको महत्व न दे और सकारात्मक सोच रखे.

(2)- हमारी समस्या जिस प्रकार कि है उसके अनुसार उसके उपाय के बारे में जितने भी विकल्प सामने आते उन पर गहन विचार करे और यदि सम्भव हो तो अपने शुभ-चिंतकों से भी बात कर सकते है ! ये हमेशा याद रखे कि हर समस्या का सकारात्मक हल निकाला जां सकता है और परिवार को छोड़ देना या सोचना कि आत्म-हत्या करके समस्या का हल निकल जायेगा, ऐसे नकारात्मक विचार रखकर अपनी और परिवार की समस्या को बढ़ाना ही है ! 

(3) ऐसे मौकों पर कभी कभी समय निकलने भी देना चाहिये, जो मदद करता है, क्योकि कई बार कोई दिन या सप्ताह खराब रहता है और धीरे धीरे समय अनुकूल होने लगता है ! किन्तु यह भी हो सकता है कि आपात स्थिति हो और समस्या को तुरंत हल करना जरुरी हो जाता है ! अतः हमे ईश्वर पर विश्वास रखते हुए, आत्म-बल, आत्म-विश्वास, धीरज, और चतुराई जैसे गुणों को आत्म-सात करना चाहिये !

(4) अपने धर्मानुसार मन्दिर, मस्जिद, या गुरुद्वारे जाकर प्रार्थना करना चाहिये, ध्यान, पूजा, योगा, आदि ऐसे मौकों पर बहुत लाभ पहुँचाते है और हमारे मन और तन को संतुलित करने में मदद करते है !  

इसके अलावा समस्या के प्रकार के अनुसार भी उपाय खोजना चाहिये और इस तरह जीवन को एक मज़बूत योध्दा की तरह जीना चाहिये न कि एक डरपोक इनसान की तरह ! यदि आपको मेरे ये विचार पसंद आए और यदि आप और भी उपाय जानते है तो मुझे E मेल करे या फ़ोन करे !

Follow these simple and practical Feng Shui tips to improve your love life. 


1. It is important to improve the flow of chi, that is, positive energy, through your bedroom in order to enjoy a harmonious intimate relationship. Hence, make it a point to keep it clean and tidy all the time. And this includes all the closets, side tables, shelves and every other storage space in your room. 

2. To start with, clean out under your bed. Well, it will reduce the storage space, but having nothing under your bed is an effective way to keep your bedroom filled with positive vibes. Besides, it will help in all aspects of your life, not just in relationships. 

3. Pick pieces that are red, pink and white in colours, such as white candles, red show pieces, and pink photo frame etc., while decorating your room, as these colour represent love and romance. However, ensure to decorate with pairs of items, and keep them united. According to the principles of Feng Shui, groups of two's work best. 

4. However, do not bring things that are not related to your personal life or sleep to your bedroom. Office files and folders, computers, laptops, television, family portraits, etc. should not be kept in your bedroom. 

5. Bed should not be in a direct line with the doorway, and if it is there, it is advisable that you move it away from the line of the door as soon as possible. Also, keep all the bedroom doors, including the closet doors as well as bathroom doors, closed at night. This tip has proved its worth time and again, so try it! 

6. Don't keep the windows and curtain of your bedroom closed all the time. It is important to let fresh air and sunlight enter the room, so that when you enter your bedroom you feel good about it and have a deep feeling of being in your own nest, irrespective of its size and fancy décor. So, open up the curtains and windows and let the natural light in. Also, paint the walls of your doors with light, pastel shades, which are easy on the eyes. After all, love cannot blossom in the dark! 

7. Put a single mattress, wide enough to accommodate you and your beloved, on the bed. Do not sleep on a double bed with two different mattress, as this creates symbolic separation that could become real. 

8. Windchime absorbs negative energy from the air and that is why it is advisable that you hang it outside your home to obstruct negativity entering your home. However. don't hang a windchime over your bed as it may have attracted and absorbed negative energy during the day, and the negativity it has my jeopardise your love life. 

9. Choose the images or artefacts you choose to put in your bedroom wisely, as they, especially images, carry powerful Feng Shui energy. Do not put things which may make you sad, lonely and nostalgic. 

10. Put a mirror near the foot of the bed, as it cannot only multiply your fortune and happiness, but can also improve communication in your relationship, providing a soothing sense of “completion” of your goals. Whereas, a large round mirror on the wall above the headboard may reduce your tension and anxiety, and thus help you improve your relationship with your life partner.

Meditation has always been associated with relaxation and spiritual enlightenment. Meditating helps the brain waves to relax and lead one to the state of consciousness apart from improving concentration ability. Meditation stabilises the autonomic nervous system lowers heart rate and relaxes stomach muscles to streamline bowel function.

Here are the 8 R’s of meditation technique that give physical and mental balance.
  1. Relaxing: Meditation breaks the connection between your routine and other issues that concern you. By dissociating from everyday issues, it bridges the connection between you and your inner self. As a result, you enjoy a relaxed and peaceful state of mind. When you get back to the usual chores the next day, you will be more relaxed.
  2. Returning: Meditation helps one return to the original qualities of the self, which includes peace, love and wisdom. As you take your thoughts in, you collect energy of the mind.
  3. Remembering: By concentrating on the point source of peace energy, the individual begins to remember his/her spiritual identity. Remembering your spiritual self helps you get over any disorientation in life and gain positive energy.
